nonbinarycode

Breaking Musical Boundaries and Challenging Norms

nonbinarycode was formed in 2019 by InkBits (they/them) and The Hardman (he/him) with a vision to transcend the confines of genre and gender. Just as gender exists beyond binaries, so too does nonbinarycode’s musical style – blending punk, cabaret, grunge, and stadium rock into a sound that’s impossible to pigeonhole.

The band is proudly queer and neurodiverse, focused on creating inclusive music that explores identity, love, and resilience – offering an honest and personal perspective that resonates with those often overlooked by mainstream media.

Beyond music, nonbinarycode advocates for LGBTQIA+ rights, mental health, and social equality, using their platform to amplify marginalised voices – inspiring others to embrace their true selves and celebrate their individuality.

With a growing following, nonbinarycode is making a significant impact on the music scene through innovation and authenticity.

Biography

nonbinarycode were formed in 2019 as the brainchild of InkBits (they/them) and The Hardman (he/him). Earlier they’d both worked together in a Dresden Dolls cover band called Dethroned Dullness, with the incomparable Jazida making up a trio.

It was during this time that the very seeds of nonbinarycode were formed, with Jazida, InkBits and The Hardman penning initial versions of Hey Let’s Play, Break Free, and The Aether as piano ballads.

After several years as a duo (and several attempts at various different band configurations) they were joined in 2023 by the equally brilliant Sorrento (they/them) on Bass, and Racso (he/him) on Drums. It was here that nonbinarycode really took off. They quickly found their sound as a four piece band, and have continued to release genre-busting hits that challenge prejudice and reframe attitudes.
